Interest Rates
The interest rate is decided solely by the bank and changes from time to time. Regular interest depends upon the balance of the savings account. Interest rate in savings account ranges from 3.5% to 7%. (2) Provides Security of Funds. As per SBI’s website, the lender has reduced its savings deposit interest rates to 2.70 per cent across all slabs from May 31, according to its website. The new rates came into effect from May. It is noteworthy that TDS is not deducted on savings bank account interest under Section 194A of the Income Tax Act. Savings Account Interest Rate Calculation Earlier, the interest rate was calculated on the lowest balance available between 10 th and last day of the month at a rate of 4% p.a.
